About the Catalan Language

Language Information

Catalan is a western romance language located in the Catalonia Autonomous Community in Spain, and parts of Southern France, as well as Valencia, where it's sometimes called Valencian.

Historical Context

Catalan is a language that has faced difficulties because of the enforcement of the Spanish language during the dictatorship of Francisco Franco in Spain. Even though this dictatorship has ended, it still isn't a language of a large population, this is why we find it beneficial to use this language as a secondary to spread Catalan culture.

Why We Support Catalan

Our website is in Catalan because we want to inform others of Catalan culture, and it is also a requirement of the .cat domain. The TLD .cat in and of itself stands for Catalan, not the feline which we associate with it on our website.
